I cater Texas style BBQ in Phoenix so regardless of where I have BBQ, I have a tendency to be hypercritical. At this BBQ restaurant, I was impressed. We ordered a combo plate with brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, pork belly burnt tips, beans and green chile mac&cheese. The brisket was good, a bit more salt would have made it perfect. The sausage and the pork belly were amazing. Excellent examples of great BBQ. The beans were wonderfully spicy and the mac&cheese, while very runny, was nicely seasoned and the pasta was al dente. Overall extremely impressive.

Last night my wife and I were hungry and decided to get some BBQ. Came across Hurtado and we decided to give it a try. I ordered the El Jefe for pickup and let me tell you--this place does not miss. From the moment I arrived, the customer service was top tier. Even though it was close to closing time, the team greeted me with warm smiles and a friendly vibe that made us feel genuinely appreciated. The red slaw was 86'd, but they didn't just shrug it off--they offered a replacement without hesitation. That level of attentiveness says a lot about their commitment to quality and hospitality. As for the food? Absolutely perfect. Every bite was rich, smoky, and full of flavor. Hurtado isn't just serving BBQ--they're delivering an experience. We'll definitely be back!

I visit this location a lot, probably twice a month. The food is always consistently good. This location serves breakfast everyday until 11am. The breakfast is fantastic with large portions. Staff is really friendly. It's a small building that doesn't offer a lot of seating inside, but they also have a nice covered patio. I highly recommend for breakfast or any other meal time. It does tend to get busy around noon and some items sell out on the weekends.

Finally tried hurtado bbq after having it on my list for months. Very simple establishment with parking in the front and back of the restaurant. They have stool seating and a covered patio seating as well. They have various menu options from 1/2 pound+ of meat to entrees with sides. I got the Texas trifecta with macaroni. The brisket was delicious and had a nice flavor the sausage was the best thing on the plate and the spare ribs weren't bad with a little bbq sauce. The Mac n cheese was bland though and let a lot to be desired. I also got the Texas Twinkie to go and damn that is delicious highly recommend. It's a mix of brisket and bacon stuffed in a. Sausage. The wait time was minimal and if dining in they bring it right to you.

This might sound like a backhanded compliment; however, when you go to a restaurant and the sides are stellar that generally means your meal is going to be good. That is how things started at Hurtado BBQ. Before we talk meats let me say that the green beans with chorizo and their street corn were stunning sides. The chorizo they use is actually small chunks of sausage not the ground meat insides which made for a nice texture and the flavor was outstanding. The chorizo was complementary not overpowering. The street corn had a nice balance of cilantro, red pepper and cotija cheese. Very tasty! The meats? We had a three meat platter with burnt ends, brisket and ribs. The burnt ends were fatty and well seasoned. The brisket was tender enough to cut with a fork, while the rub on the ribs was nicely carmelized. This was a platter of comfort food and a palate of BBQ three ways. Be advised they do not serve alcohol so you need to bring your own if that is important to you. Hurtado is a no frills, rustic eatery so come as you are. We will be back!

Hurtado BBQ has some pretty good BBQ. There's so much good BBQ in the DFW area that it's hard to breakout, but this place is one of the better ones. I went with a chopped brisket sandwich and hatch mac & cheese in the side. The brisket was juicy and flavorful, although I wish the BBQ sauce on the table had been better (or at least more than one option). The Mac & cheese was standard fare for this kind of place--not bad, but nothing fancy either. If you're nearby and looking for tasty meats, give this place a try!
